About Me
I'm Mrs Hodgson - A qualified teacher who began her teacher training at Leeds Trinity University in 2010 and has spent over a decade in primary classrooms across North Leeds. I offer 1:1 tutoring because I believe every child deserves patient, personal support that truly fits them.
My Story
I began my teacher training back in 2010 at Leeds Trinity University and I was absolutely delighted to complete part of my training at my own old primary school, right here in LS17. Working in EYFS and KS1 alongside the very teachers who had taught me was a truly special experience, and one that shaped the kind of teacher I wanted to become.
After qualifying, I went on to teach my own class for 10 years at another local state school, working across KS1 and KS2. It was here that I really grew into my teaching and developing my practice, building strong relationships with children and families, and specialising in the Computing Curriculum alongside my core subjects.
After having my two daughters, I made the decision to step back from full-time teaching. I now work as a Casual Teacher at a local private school, which gives me the flexibility to be present for my girls and the time to do something I'm truly passionate about: tutoring.
Tutoring allows me to give children something that's so hard to find in a busy classroom - undivided attention, a pace that suits them, and a safe space to ask questions without hesitation. I hold a full enhanced DBS check, and I'm proud to have received particular recognition from Leeds City Council during a moderation visit, where inspectors made specific, positive comments about the exceptional progress my students had made.

My Approach
My teaching philosophy is simple: every child can thrive when they feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood.
I take the time to truly understand how your child learns — their strengths, their challenges, and what makes them tick. Sessions are never one-size-fits-all.
A child who believes they can learn will always outperform one who doesn't. I build confidence first, and the academic progress follows naturally.
12 years in the classroom means I know exactly what children need at each stage. My tutoring is grounded in real teaching experience, not just theory.
I'd love to hear about your child and what they need. Get in touch for a friendly, no-pressure chat — there's no obligation, just a warm conversation about how I might be able to help.
